Memorial Service Win Fah Yu 2

21 May 2026

An emotional service where some of the crew shared their own thoughts was held on 24th April for Nilrey Pahit. Nilrey was taken ill and brought ashore and then transferred from the KEMH to the British Medical Hospital in Uruguay for specialist treatment, but sadly he passed away on Sunday 19th April.

It is always important for the crew of a vessel to have time to grieve and to say their goodbyes in whatever way then need and he will obviously be missed greatly by his colleagues. As Port Chaplain Maurice Lake said even though what they said about Nilrey was not said in English, we all understood what was being said and felt the emotion with which it was put across.

The Mission loved being able to support the crew at this difficult time and it gave them all a chance to face time their family, as onboard WiFi is limited to messages.
